Silmo is a trade fair for the the optical and eyewear industry. It is one of the oldest in the world, with its first edition being held in 1967. The format and location of the trade fair have changed several times during its 50-year history. Silmo is currently based in Paris Nord Villepinte in close proximity of Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport where it takes place every year.
An average of 34,000 visitors attend Silmo every year. Throughout the four exhibition halls, nearly 900 businesses present their very latest products. Additionally, a highly-valued, key element of the trade fair is its adjacent scientific forum. It covers a wide range of topics and the Silmo 2017 main focus will be reading, which will be explored in three sessions. Keynote speakers with impressive backgrounds will give speeches and showcase their researches which will shape the future of the optical industry.
Another part which makes Silmo the top optical trade fair in the world is Silmo D’Or. An award given each year since 1994 to acknowledge the creativity, progress and professionalism of the industry’s top experts. Only participants in the trade fair can enter the competition.
More than 50 percent of all exhibitors at Silmo Paris come from abroad. This of course means that the event is perfect for expanding business contacts worldwide. Additionally, the organisers have announced that the first edition of the expo in the Southern Hemisphere will take place in 2017. Silmo Sydney will run in the beginning of March 2017.
