Château de Chaumont (also known as Chaumont-sur-Loire) is situated about 200 km away from Paris, between Tours and Blois. The castle dates back to the 10th century and has been listed as a historic monument since 1840. Nowadays Chaumont is owned by the Centre-Loire Valley Region, and is open to the general public.

The castle and its surrounding grounds cover about 32 hectares - plenty of space for open-air exhibitions such as the International Garden Festival. Hundreds of thousands of visitors come to the castle each year, attracted by its history, landscape and colourful events.
